이 책은 영문 저서이다.
제2차 세계대전 동안 유태인에 대한 나치의 탄압과 학살은 세계인들에게 책이나 영화 등 다양한 매체를 통해 잘 알려져왔지만 동시대에 제국주의 일본에 의해 말할 수 없는 고통을 받았던 한국인들에 대한 이야기는 잘 알려져있지 않다. 심지어 현재의 한국인들도 적당한 상상으로 가늠할 뿐이다. 일제의 식민 지배 시절에 겪었던 한국인들의 아픔을 목격하고 같이 고통스러워했던 캐나다의 저널리스트인 F.A. Mckenzie 씨의 전세계에 대한 호소문이자 역사의 증언이다.

The tragedy of the Jews during the Second World War is well-known to the world, but you don’t know much about the torture that Koreans suffered during the same period. You will never imagine it without reading this book.
Korea was under Japanese colonial rule for 35 years. (1910 ~ 1945) Japan annexed Korea by threatening with her military power. They treated Koreans as slavery. They had ninjas slaughter the Queen of Korea who were against Japan. There were countless massacres of innocent people of Korea during the period. They can be comparable to the Nanjing massacre. Japanese soldiers and police attacked Korean people at random for no reason. They randomly violated Korean women for no reason. Only reason they had was that they were conquerors. Japanese plundered and looted whole country of Korea until the Second World War is over.
This book was originally written by Canadian journalist, F.A. McKenzie (1869 ~ 1931). He worked as travelling correspondent in the Far East. While he was in Korea, he witnessed dreadful deeds done by Japanese. He asked for international help by writing this book.
*This book was firstly published in 1920. In 2012, it has been fully proofread and illustrated with photos helping to describe the incidents. There is no strange mark or text that you may easily find in other badly converted e-books. You can read this book as comfortable as a paper book.
F.A. McKenzie는 20세기 초반 동 아시아에 대한 관심을 가지고 한국에 왔던 캐나다 출신의 저널리스트이다. 그는 일제 지배 하에서 고통받았던 한국인들의 아픔에 대해 크게 공감하고 세계에 호소하기 위해 애썼다.
Frederick Arthur McKenzie (1869 ~ 1931) was a correspondent active in the early 20th century who wrote several books on geopolitical developments in eastern Asia. He was born in Quebec, and described himself as "Scots-Canadian." He briefly contributed to the Pall Mall Gazette, and then for several years he worked with the Daily Mail as traveling correspondent in the Far East.
